From an early age I always knew…
… that helping people was my God-given calling!
At first, I wanted to be a doctor, but I soon discovered that I hated blood.
During my middle school years, my father passed away. I kept my feelings to myself.
Growing up in a Haitian household, I was taught that what happens in the home stays in the home. This created struggle throughout my middle school and high school years. That is, until I took my first psychology class. It was then that I fell in love with the fact that the world of mental health care had carved out a special place for people to feel loved, seen, known, and healed.
That’s what prompted my pursuit for higher learning…
I chased that dream down, and earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2017.
But the chase for more knowledge to help others had only begun.
I continued my journey with a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a focus in crisis and trauma counseling.
I want to meet people where they are…
I believe that everyone has a strength. Part of my therapy approach is focused around finding that strength and focusing on the person.
I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy but I’m also focusing on play therapy for my younger clients.
Our mental health needs attention and empathy…
I’ve learned that people need to feel safe and encouraged to speak out about their struggles.
Life can be extremely challenging, and compassion (like that found in 1 Corinthians 16:14) is an absolutely vital component of helping people walk through those difficulties.
I’ve seen this truth many times over in my experiences as a middle school leader. When these kids feel safe and loved, lives are transformed.
It is time to make a change…
We cannot change the past, but we can face the future with hope and healing. My desire is to utilize my experience and expertise to help my clients effectively navigate through life’s difficulties towards healthy goals.
Life can be unpredictable and painful, but with proper perspective and strategy, we can face these challenges with grace and dignity. Call today to schedule an appointment: (407) 285-6284.
