A Heart for Others…
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in the helping profession; to help others through hard times in life. I discovered that counseling was the right fit for me when I took a counseling class in undergraduate school. Ever since then, I fell in love with the concept of counseling and being able to give people a safe place to work through the tough times in life; to help them on their journey of life.
My journey started with attending college at Southeastern University where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I soon got married and then dove right into graduate school at Palm Beach Atlantic University to earn my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since graduating, I am now a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern working through my two-year journey to becoming a licensed counselor.
Everyone is on a journey, and I would be honored to be a part of yours!
You do not have to be alone in this season of life…
Growing up in a family of seven, I was constantly around people. Yet there were so many times when I felt alone in my suffering. I felt like there was no one to walk and talk with me through hard times. There were always people in my life, but none that I could seem to trust with what I was going through.
Now, as I have grown up, gone through some hard seasons, and have experienced counseling, I know that it is okay to let people in. It is okay to trust a few people and let them walk with you through whatever journey it is that you are going through.
You do not have to be alone in your life transition, anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, or marital struggles. As you take this step into counseling, let us journey through this season of healing, growth, exploration, and understanding together. You are not meant to live this live alone!
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
During Our Time Together…
During our time in counseling together, you will have a judgement free, safe space to land and work through past hurts, current struggles, and learn about yourself and what makes you tick. I believe that looking at the entire self is key to wholeness. So, in our time together we will explore and identify all parts of yourself; strengths & weaknesses both past & present, core beliefs, likes and dislikes, and maybe even the parts of yourself that are still unknown.
I work with individuals (teens-adults), and people who are in a relationship or marriage. I utilize different therapeutic approaches such as Congnitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for those wanting to learn emotional regulation and coping skills, Person Centered, Solution Focused, and Emotion Focused; all tailored differently for each client. I also have training in Gottman level 1 that is utilized in the relationship/marriage counseling setting.
